Right after high school, I attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. It was major American music school founded in 1886. I was a piano major, voice minor and though I took the train to school dutifully every day, my heart wasn’t in it. I wanted to be in a band!
But having that classical background comes in handy. When a serious horn student from LACHSA high school needed an accompanist for his various competitions, college videos, etc., I offered to help. Wow! I haven’t practiced like that in a LONG time! Here are a couple of videos recorded at the Colburn School Thayer Hall.
